Wait two weeks for Microneedling if you have had any of the following:

 • Long-term/semi -permanent injectables (including but not limited to Aquamid®, Sculptra®, Artefill®) 
 • Microdermabrasion 
 • Derma blading/derma planing 
 • Laser/IPL rejuvenation/hair removal 
 • Tattooing/cosmetic tattooing Electrolysis/diathermy 
 • Radio Frequency (RF) skin tightening 
 • Dermal fillers (including but not limited to Juvederm®, Restylane®, Teosyal®, Princess®, Stylage®, Esthelis®, Radiesse®, Belotero®, Captique®) o Photo dynamic therapy (PDT) 
 • Chemical peel (including but not limited to glycolic acid, lactic acid, mandelic acid or salicylic acid) 
 • Dermabrasion 
 • Deep chemical peel 
 • Hair removal (including but not limited to waxing, sugaring, plucking, threading or depilatory cream) 
 • Spray/self-tanning

If you are experiencing any of the following conditions or concerns, on or around the treatment area, you will need to let your practitioner know prior to treatment: 
• Active Psoriasis 
• Active Herpes simplex (cold sores) 
• Scleroderma 
• Open lesions 
• Skin cancer 
• Undiagnosed/unusual moles 
• Active lupus erythematosus
 • Active collagen vascular disease 
Also, inform your practitioner if you are (or planning to get) pregnant, have any cosmetic tattooing, have recently experienced any chronic illness or are undergoing major medical care. If you have doubts regarding any health condition or medications that you may take, always seek medical advice from your physician.

Certain health conditions, medications, supplements and lifestyle factors may affect a procedure. All patients are required to complete a Consultation Form prior to treatment for assessment by us.

All patients should prepare and prime their skin for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment with home care. Your practitioner will prescribe a customised skin solution for pre-op, post-op and ongoing maintenance.

Post-care

It is important to protect and provide extra special care for your skin for at least 3-4 days following a Dermapen 4TM procedure. 
Typically, patients experience 36-48 hours of mild to moderate sunburn in appearance and sensation following their treatment.

During the healing process, minor itching, hives, some flaking, or redness may appear. If symptoms persist, please call us. Do not pick, squeeze or agitate the skin during the recovery period.

Please avoid the following activities for up to 2 days following a Dermapen 4TM treatment: 
• Direct ultra-violet exposure (sun and solariums/sun beds) 
• Intensive cardio, exercise or gymnasium regimens 
• Excessively hot showers, bathing, spas or sauna 
• Further aesthetic treatments (including, but not limited to, microdermabrasion, laser, intense pulsed light, chemical peels, muscle relaxant injections and dermal fillers) 
• Spray or self-tanning 
• Swimming in chlorinated pools or the ocean 
• Tattooing (including cosmetic tattooing)

It is recommended to only use Dp Dermaceuticals protocol products for post-operative care. Your practitioner will most likely suggest: 
• Cleanse: TRI-PHASE CLEANSERTM 
• Serum: HYLA ACTIVETM
 • Correct/Moisturise: VITAMIN RICH REPAIRTM
 • Protect: COVER RECOVERTM Dp Dermaceuticals COVER RECOVERTM delivers a broad spectrum SPF30/PA+++ and camouflage in one. It should be reapplied 2-3 times a day.

Depending on your skin concern and response, your practitioner may also prescribe other targeted products, including CLINIPREPTM and SSSCARTM.

Please avoid the use of skin care products containing any of the following active resurfacing ingredients for up to 5 days following a Dermapen 4TM treatment: 
• Mechanical exfoliants (scrubs) 
• Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAS) (including, but not limited to, glycolic, lactic or malic acid) 
• Beta hydroxy acid (BHA), including salicylic acid 
• Benzoyl peroxide 
• Retinoids (including, but not limited to, tretinoin, adapalene, tazarotene and retinol) 
• Hydroquinone 
• Bleaching agents 
• Alcohol (including, but not limited to, isopropyl alcohol/denatured alcohol/rubbing alcohol)

Your regular Dp Dermaceuticals regimen may be altered by your practitioner, according to your individual needs and skin condition. If in doubt about any of the above activities or products, please call us for clarification. For any isolated, adverse reactions, seek medical assistance.
